Hi Everyone,
We need nine new Necromancy Spells please. The new disciplines’ first spell should be a raise the dead spell, but one were the Necromancy can choose to raise up more at the cost of making the spell more difficult to cast.
It goes without saying that the rest of the spells for Necromancy should all be base around Death and causing harm. However, in saying that we could have a few spells that could fortify your undead or even terrify the enemy.
Btw on a side note, I have finished the last two Houses for the Evernight Codex. So why have I not posted them you cry??? Well as I have writing well past that point now, I have decided to post the first draft of their entire codex instead in the next couple of weeks – complete with all the Houses, Characters, Units, Beasts and War Machines.

January 27, 2019 at 7:34 pm #1439ThomasParticipantHuh I never got the message about this.
I luckily checked and saw it so you may want to send out a message.Idea for maybe the 2nd spell.
“Deaths Kiss”
“The Necromancers focuses his magic and releases it as a burst that flows over the ranks of the enemy. Once breathed in they drop like flies at the feet of the wizard as there life is drained from their bodies and used to further fuel the Necromancers cause”
Cost 2
Once successfully cast place the flame template within the primary awareness range of the wizard and in base contact.
Any enemy models under the temple suffer a -2 agility and -1 toughness. For every 3 models killed the caster recovers 1 LP.January 27, 2019 at 7:44 pm #1441DaveKeymasterI have not posted on Epic for a while. So you haven’t missed anything.
However, can I just check, did you get an email about the latest poll we are running?
Very good Tom, I will add it in to the list.
It would be nice to have a Curse of Years spell in there too, as a bit of a shout out to Warhammer Fantasy.
January 27, 2019 at 10:45 pm #1444ThomasParticipantI got the e mail about the poll. But I didn’t realise you had started on necromancy magic.
And a spell similar to curse of years could be interestingJanuary 28, 2019 at 4:01 pm #1445DaveKeymasterWell I have only just posted about the Necromancy Magic. You should be able to subscribe to the thread though to keep you updated.
January 29, 2019 at 8:51 am #1446ThomasParticipantIdea for a more combat spell.
Life Rend
The Necromancers imbues a weapon with the power to cut through a soul itself. Though the weapon itself and the damage it does appear unchanged though struck by it feel there will getting weaker with every strike
Cost 4
This spell has a range of 8 inches and may be cast on an individual model.
Once cast that models weapon gains the special rules for life breaker until the start of your next turn.
This may only affect 1 weapon the model is carrying.- This reply was modified 5 years, 10 months ago by Thomas.
January 29, 2019 at 10:03 pm #1449DaveKeymasterCool 🙂
What about Shadow Blade instead? Also, I think 4 ether is a little costly. I would be tempted to grant an entire unit that ability for that cost rather than just one model?January 29, 2019 at 10:36 pm #1450ThomasParticipantYou could do that. I was just considering how it could pair up with magic items when I created the cost but it would be interesting to give it to a unit
January 30, 2019 at 11:29 am #1451DaveKeymasterGreat stuff then! I have added it into the Necromancer Spell list.
January 30, 2019 at 10:42 pm #1452AnonymousInactiveIdea for a magic spell for necromancy
“Shroud of spirits”
Cost 3
“The Necromancers targets the ground and rips from it the souls who have been laid to rest, those who died of age or in battle are forced to return to the mortal realm once more howling throughout the painful ordeal.
Though this causes no physical harm to enemies it serves as a distraction and shakes their morale at the sight of the endless wall of wailing spirits begging to return from whence they came.”
This spell has a range of up to 24 inchs and can be cast within the casters awareness ranges.
Once cast place a piece of rough ground down to represent the souls. Enemies pieces suffer a movement penalty as normal for moving through it and if they try to shoot over it they also suffer a -1 penalty. Additionally enemies within 6inchs suffer +1 fear.A strong and unique utility spell hopefully you like it
January 31, 2019 at 10:23 pm #1453DaveKeymasterHe Al,
Always good to hear from you Al 🙂 As for your spell, “hope I like it”, I love it!It’s nearly perfect the way it is, but I do feel its a little overpowered. I would limit its range down to 12 inches and take away the movement penalty.
I’m guessing the effect of the spell lasts for the entire game?
Also, it would be nice to tie it more into the Three Plains’ law. So the tear in reality could show the mortals the veil where there is the black ocean and its lost souls.
February 1, 2019 at 10:45 pm #1454AnonymousInactiveYeah you could do that if you want. I just had an idea for a unique spell.
The lore tie in is cool as wellFebruary 1, 2019 at 10:59 pm #1455ThomasParticipantI had an idea for spell. But it might be hard to implement/OP depending on the situation
Last rites
Cost 5
Necromancy is famous for allowing you to resurrect the dead, but the true power gained is controlling them to do your bidding. They can follow simple tasks fine, but require more advanced manaquill to perform tactical maneuovers.
Though this and with proper planning an undead army is unpredictable and has a plan for whatever the living may through at them.
Many generals have had their morale broken when a “dumb” undead army foils their greatest strategy.
Once successfully cast pick an undead piece anywhere on the table top.
That piece may do one of the following; make an additional move, shoot their ranged weapon or have an additional round of combat (your enemy may not fight back).
Afterwards place an exhaustion counter on the piece. It could be broken and I’m happy with a rewrite, I just thought it would be cool to represent his control over the undead.
February 2, 2019 at 8:40 am #1456DaveKeymasterNo probs Al, I’m always happy to see you throw your hat into the ring 🙂
Good Stuff Tom.
I feel it should be ‘Mastory Over the Dead’ instead or something like that? And I would put it at a cost of 3 to 4 ether instead of 5. However, I do feel it needs to have a range too of around 8 inches.
Otherwise bril Tom, I have added it in.
At the moment we 4 spell guys, good work so far. I have 2 more I would like to add, which might get time to add today.
