Hi all,
Iâm back and really enjoying my break. As an added bonus, Iâve had plenty of time to work on the Orc models Iâm revamping. Iâve just finished the new Orc Slingers, which you can see below. You can download them here: Orc Slingers.

Iâm slowly working my way through updating the Orcs, as shown below. The dash, dash, plus system is just my way of marking which models have been updated and which ones Iâll be working on next.

I still have all the Characters, War Machines, and Beasts to update, so thereâs still quite a bit to do. However, by far, the Unitâs Folder is the largest section of the bunch. Once thatâs done, Iâll be well over halfway finished!
The next set of models Iâll be working on are the Orc Saws, the factionâs elite warriors. I can reuse the basic Orc models and equipment Iâve already created and simply add a lot more detail. Model-wise, the main difference between Grunts and Saws is that Saws carry their signature saw blades and have a lot more armourâor âMore Metal,â as the Orcs call it. So, all I have to do is add the extra pieces of equipment to the existing model and then Iâm done, which shouldnât take too long.
Moving away from the models, Iâve also been working on the main rules and the Orc Codex. One of the most exciting things Iâve been developing is the âEpic Woundsâ system.
One of my pet peeves in tabletop and computer games is that heavily wounded monsters and characters fight just as effectively as they do when theyâre fresh at the start of a battle. In reality, they should barely be able to fight back when heavily wounded. Iâm hoping the new âEpic Woundsâ system will fix this and change the game in three significant ways.
- Characters and monsters will cost fewer points.
- Players will need to be more careful about when to bring their characters and large monsters into play, as theyâll lose their full impact after a few rounds of combat.
- Regular units will get a boost, as they wonât suffer from Epic Wounds. Even at half strength, theyâll fight just as effectively as they did at the start of the battle.
Happy New Yearâletâs hope itâs a good one!
