Blue Brutes Finished – Herlanceian Revamp on the Horizon!

Hi all,

Updating the Blue Brutes turned out to be a nice, quick, and easy job, as there really wasn’t much wrong with their old prints. That said, I did recolour their skin to a lighter, more print-friendly shade of blue, as the old version was a bit too dark.

You can download the reworked Blue Brutes from HERE and click on Bone Breakers or Bone Smashers.

I finished the rework so early in the week that I even had time to start on the brand-new Brute models, which are next on my list.

I’ll be starting from scratch with these new Brutes, so they’ll take longer to complete. My plan is to create three basic models, each with different weapons. Then I’ll make both a light and heavy-armoured version of each one, bringing the total up to six instead of three. That’s the plan anyway—we’ll see how time goes!

With the Shadow Land Orcs almost complete, my attention is also turning to the upcoming Herlanceian revamp. Below, on the left, is the old Herlanceian Guard, and on the right is the new concept art for their replacement.

The Herlanceians are getting a major update. Not only will all their models be redone, but their lore will also be revised and expanded. Their style will shift too—moving away from purely ancient Greek influences and blending them with more English themes to create a truly unique look and feel.

The Herlanceians must stand apart as the setting’s “good guys”—the moral foil for every other race to bounce off. By “good,” I mean a race striving to do the right thing in a world ruled by cruel gods, bloodthirsty monsters, and wicked demons. Of course, they’ll sometimes need to take questionable actions to survive in this brutal world.

Their playstyle will remain the same, however—true jacks-of-all-trades, masters of none.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts—feel free to drop me some feedback!

Until next time—take care,

Dave
