Hi all,
I hope your New Year is going well! I’ve been working on upgrading the Saw models, and it’s been quite the project so far. The Saws needed a lot of attention, as I had to create entirely new armour and weapons for them. Here’s a quick look at my progress:
I always aim to create at least three different types of equipment for variety, allowing me to mix and match the sets to create a diverse range of Orcs. This time, I’ve also started adding modular elements to the armour sets to enhance customisation further, as you can see here:
Currently, I’ve just started working on their gauntlets, and I still need to design their greaves. I’m hoping to finish these either next week or the week after. While I’ve been trying to release a new model each month, I may not hit that self-imposed deadline this time. Considering the amount of work left, I estimate it will take an extra week or two to complete the Saws.
Moving on to the Orc Codex, I’ve also been working on its header and footer art. When I need a break from the models, I switch over to designing the book’s visual elements. Here’s a sneak peek:
The art is still in the rough stages, but over time, I’ll gradually refine it to create a border design that will add interest to the Codex pages.
Lastly, I’ve been reworking the look and feel of the Trolls. I was never satisfied with the original Troll design I created years ago, so I’ve been experimenting with new concepts. Here’s the updated concept art:
The new Troll model will be significantly larger than the old one, with a base size of 40 x 40mm compared to the previous 20 x 20mm. I’m also exploring the idea of turning Trolls into dual-purpose pieces, capable of melee combat and ranged attacks by hurling massive rocks at their enemies on the battlefield.
That’s all from me for now. Thanks for stopping by, and take care!
